Não Se Esqueça

Actor and Co-Creator

Não Se Esqueça (Do Not Forget) is an original piece, collectively devised by the performers, reflecting back on the Brazilian military dictatorship (1964 to 1985), 50 years after the 1968 Institutional Act 5 (AI5) – the legalization of torture as a State pratice. The piece addresses and exposes the violences inflicted upon women tortured, disappeared, and murdered during this period, while putting in perspective the societal violences that women experience on a daily basis in current times. It recalls the names of the brave, young women who fought for democracy, many of whom have never been found, and warns of the threats to the democratic pact looming in the horizon.
